As we were not lucky with our plans for diving in Egypt we went on a last-minute trip to Bali, the lovely island next to the main island in the Indonesians.
For us it was a decision for a last vacation far away as we were trying to get a baby. We had a good time staying at one of the better hotels at Benoa beach.
Although, it was a little bit disturbing that during the day there was quite some noise because of heavily advertised water sports - jet ski, para sailing and some other stupid water activities employing loud motor boats.
From the Lonely Planet we discovered a real pearl of Balinese cuisine where we dined more than once and enjoyed the different flavors of Bali's specialties.
For recreational activities we wanted to go for some diving because that was also our intent when first planning for a vacation in Egypt. As we found the local diving centers of disturbing qualities we googled for a more adequate outfit for our recreational diving. After some search we found company in the eastern part of Bali. Besides diving at all major Balinese diving spots they offered transfer to their base too so we struck a deal with them. In the end, with them we did some of the better dives we have had until now.
Besides diving we also made trips to inland Bali for visiting some cultural sites and pristine looks on Bali's tropical nature. And, of course, there was also plenty of time for hanging out on the beach reading some stuff piled up during all the months working hard back at home...
