Vacation in Greece

In the middle of the escalated crisis in Greece we stayed there for some very fine vacation days.
Invited by friends to their little boy's baptism we really enjoyed our stay.

However, the whole situation with the Greek debt crisis overshadowed the week somehow.

I am not sure but it came to my mind that all the richer european countries are trying to get out of their responsibility for this disaster. In the beginning we sold them weapons and other stuff they could not afford and then we sent in our corrupt bankers to lend them money they could not afford. And if that wasn't enought we then got our pension funds and other investment fonds to invest in greek bonds because they earned some nice interest.

Somehow I am very confused: why the heck don't we just rip all these high-risk investors off their money they obviously invested with a bad taste for macabre risk avoidance by externalizing costs to whole societies (i.e. government budgets) and leave the greek people alone!



Of course, the greek governments of the past years did not light up with a lot of competence. But EU politicians nowadays also demonstrate some real lack thereof (as was written by nobel laureates lately).


On a very relaxing bike trip with a friend and his friend we went to a cave where the ancient tribes commenced their holy rituals... some mysterious adventure going down into this large dark hole in the earth ;-)



So in summary, vacation worked out well and we had a lot of fun despite the geopolitical situation.

It was the first longer trip with now two kids. Leia did a good job in being the big sis and Elias was relaxed being the lil' bro...

Together they are their parents sleepless nights... even on vacation... but they are also our pride and we enjoy every hour with them :)






The hotel was nice and we had a very decent view down to the sea. As Itea, the village we stayed at, is some little marvel without the usual touristic invasion we had a really great time!











And still there was some negative part that week:
I accidentally stood on a sea urich!

It took Anna and me some fiddling with an acupuncture needle to get all these tiny fractured needles out of my foot. It hurt a lot and I'm glad that my doctor wife got me the right treatment asap after the accident so I did not develop serious inflammation... so, in the end, it was a happy end :)
